The Cultural Identity Test

Your result for The Cultural Identity Test...

The Modern Thinker

67% Traditionalism, 70% Knowledge, 67% Diversity, 39% Contemporary and 33%

 Untraditionalism!

You Scored 39% Modern Thinker, Congratulations!

Hey there, Modern Thinker! At the forefront of your generation, you possess the uncanny ability to ride the waves of Untraditionalism that course through our fickle society and remain at the crest! Ever aware of the changing tides of politics and philosophy, you have your own niche and you stick to it.

Less idealistic and traditional than your contemporaries, you probably have a good idea of where you stand and what makes sense. And if you don't, it's ok, because it probably isn't that important anyways. Apathy can be a good thing sometimes. After all, are those vicissitudinous ideas the politicians shout all the time really that meaningful? They really just want your vote, and you aren't fooled by all the clever talk.

History probably isn't your strong suite, but don't worry, that's all in the past. You're a contemporary! You look to the future, not to what's behind you. Is Charlemagne really going to help you get that date tonight? You find other cultures interesting, but you most likely won't go out of your way to do anything about it. You know where you stand, and that's the bottom line.

You were scored as a Modern Thinker because you most consistently chose answers relating to contemporary ideas. Concepts like race, tradition, history and diversity don't appear to have all that great an attraction for you, which is just fine, because most of those things don't seem to affect your day to day life. If you can get along without worrying about the traditional mating headgear of the Papu Papu tribe of East Samoa, then that's just one less thing to worry about. Take a break and kick back, your favourite TV show is probably coming on soon.

Editors Note:

Although it's taken about twenty hours to complete (and if you calculate in all the years I've spent compiling this information for my own purposes a good deal longer), I'm very pleased with how this test has turned out, and even more so with the responses I've been getting from people. If you were wondering, I am a traditionalist, and knowing about my heritage and celebrating my customs is one of the most important aspects of my life. I've tried to be fair in creating a test where questions and answers account for all different backgrounds and beliefs, and from what I've heard so far, I didn't do half bad.

However, regardless of what score you received, and whether or not you had fun, the greatest compliment I've gotten from people is that this test has made them consider their own heritage more deeply, and want to find out more about where they came from. This wasn't a goal I had in mind when I created the test, but to hear that I've sparked some interest in a person's lineage, however small, is an incredibly gratifying experience.

Whatever your score, whatever your ideas on the issues I've raised here, I want to sincerely thank you for spending the time to take my test, and hope that you've enjoyed it.

I also have a ton of resources for learning about your own history, and I'd be happy to share them with anyone who was interested.

Viel Glück und Gott Geschwindigkeit,

- Errantblue
